Yeah, so it’s 8:20am on Saturday morning and I’m in some city in Virginia for this PC-Gamer Network LAN. After our 16 hour journey from Milwaukee yesterday, we capped off our night with an interesting night at Applebees, eatin’ good in the neighborhood. I never in my life have been grilled so hard over my ID. I got asked my eye colors, height, zip code, and if I was a donor or not (which I didn’t remember). Apparently Ksharp looks likes he’s 17 and it’s odd if your states ID shows the dollar amount of how much it cost. We wanted to go out and celebrate Paradox’s 21st birthday but all the bars/restaurants around our hotel closed at midnight like a bunch of chumps, so our night ended by slowly passing out while watching Bruce Almighty.
We’re about to head to the LAN in a few minutes. Supposedly, the tournament is supposed to start at 10 but I went ahead and told Nick and Musty that it starts at 9, because to them 9 means 10 (hopefully they don’t see this before we head out). Nothing is more annoying than having to wake up two of the laziest kids in the world before a tournament and it always seems to be me who that responsibility falls on. Not wanting to deal with it this time, I put my sister and Ksharp in the room with Nick and Musty so I wouldn’t have to deal with those two fools. If I had a dollar for every hotel attendant that I’ve had to argue with to prevent us from getting a late checkout fee, I’d be mildly richer. One time I got slapped in the face because I wouldn’t turn the wake-up alarm off because Nick felt like he needed to sleep longer. At Showdown two years ago at the RCA Dome in Indy, we were late for the finals match because Nick didn’t get out of bed until 5 minutes after we wanted to leave. So we get to the venue, and the closest parking spot is literally a mile away. I drop everyone off of the door, and go to park. I get a call from someone on my team saying if I’m not there in 5 minutes we forfeit – so I sprinted from the parking lot all the way in to my chair at the finals table and was live within 30 seconds, sweat beads pouring down my forehead and all. Anyhow, it’s probably time to head out now. I have no idea how many teams are coming to this event, or if it’s going to be a total flop. I just came to have a good time with my old CS buddies that I don’t get a chance to hang out with very often anymore. If you’re at the event, stop by and say “HELLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”. |

I really enjoy your blogs, the more the better. Also that sounds like an awesome team you have, paradox mustang saphire yourself and ksharp. Keep up the good work. Also maybe you could do an article about the top teams in source right now and their strengths and weaknesses. Because I'm interested to see how they do on lan.

Congratulations to Team Pandemic on your PCGN Fragfest 2009 tournament win!
I would like to thank everyone that attended this LAN event. I am Fire488[COWA] one of the owners of PCGN/ COWA. I have to credit the LAN's overall success to 2 things: the quality of people like you that attended and The_Ranger[COWA]'s tireless determination to make this event the best it could be. I would like to thank you Juan for you and your team's attendance and participation in our tournament. Your team's professionalism and sportsmanship is a testament to why you have the success that you do. It was a pleasure to witness. We will be doing an annual LAN event and from what I am receiving back from the attendees it should be even bigger and better. Hope to see you all there. |

Just one other point of information I would like to add in light of some of the comments posted in reply. I personally walked around and spoke to many of the players attending and competing. I asked for comments/ suggestions both good and bad. I received many suggestions about improvements we can make for next year. I value that information and plan of correcting those issues. The internet issue is true and was a huge problem. There was internet there, but it was only DSL and we definitely used all of that bandwidth up quickly. We are addressing that issue for next year and we should be good to go. Most of the comments that I received both at the event and via email was very positive. Most said the servers ran very well with no lag at all. I did not hear one complaint about them all night. Your opinions matter greatly to us and taken very seriously.
We at PCGN will do our best to make this event the best it can be based on your feedback. Thank you for the help and as I said prior your patronage is greatly appreciated. |

helllloooooooooo
You guys can't imagine how obsessed Jon really is with Seinfeld. I was laying around in the hotel room a bit that morning of course waiting for our two liabilities who were in the other room and listened to juan and rekim play Seinfeld youtube clips the entire time. So I moved to the other room after a while and was hanging out... after about 30 minutes noit gets out of the shower and tells mustang it's his turn to shower. Mustang... looking like he's terribly hungover just mumbles... "did everybody shower?" And Nick tells him yeah so he sits up grumpy as can be and yells "GODDDD DAMNNITTTTT" and storms into the bathroom. Then he comes out a minute later and says... "are you sure everybody showered?" Had to make sure I guess ahaha. It was a great time. Nice to meet everyone there ![]() |

You should change the time on the clocks at the next event. Make them think they overslept so you can get to the event on time.
